An apologist is not a person who is sorry! 1 Peter 3:15 says “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear … “ The word “defense” is the greek word “apologia”, where we get the word apologetics from.
An apologist is a person who has studied God’s word and is ready to give a logical, reasoned defense for the faith. This ministry prepares us to share the gospel more effectively, because knowing what we believe and why we believe it enables us to overcome barriers, handle objections, and earn the right to be heard.
