John-Bonner

History of CCBC-Peru

The original, four-fold vision was given to John Bonner back in 1985:

  • To establish a Spanish-speaking Bible College
  • To establish a training center for missionaries
  • To establish a center where students from both schools would serve and work together, forming teams to be sent out to plant churches
  • To receive visiting short-term missions teams to spearhead evangelistic outreaches throughout Latin America

The prophet Habakkuk encouraged John to "write the vision, and make it plain, so he who reads it could run with it." But many frustrating years passed, and the vision seemed to be nothing more than just a fleeting dream. Then Habakkuk spoke again, "Though the vision tarry, wait for it. It will certainly come; it will not delay." (Habakkuk 2:3,3)

The Bonner family moved to Peru on October 4, 1999 hoping this would be the Lord's time to establish the work. Four months later, Bible College classes began in Spanish and the following year, our first transfer students from the Murrieta campus of Calvary Chapel Bible College arrived. From that time, the work began to grow, and the vision was becoming reality.

In 2003, Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa blessed the Peru campus with an interest free loan to help purchase a much needed campus to house the growing student population.

Because of the evangelistic emphasis of the college, many churches have been planted over the years, and graduates go on to oversee those new fellowships. Students are now coming from those new churches, as well as other Latin American countries, to be trained for leadership.
